The model of the atom proposed by famous scientist Neil Bohr in 1915 was came to be known as the Bohr model of an atom. He received the Nobel Prize in physics for his work on atoms. Bohr’s Model is an atomic model proposed by Danish Physicist Niels Bohr in 1913. Bohr’s Atomic Model was introduced by Niels Bohr in 1915. His model helped explain how atoms are structured and how the parts of atoms behave. In doing so, it emits a photon of energy equal to the difference in its energies in the two orbits. Niels Bohr was a Danish physicist known for making a model of the atom. An electron can make a transition from one of its orbits to another orbit having lower energy.Thus, different orbits have different and definite values of angular momentum and therefore, different values of energy. The radius of the orbit of an electron can only take certain fixed values such that the angular momentum of the electron in these orbits is an integral multiple of `"h"/(2π)`, h being Planck’s constant. In 1913, the physicist Niels Bohr introduced a model of the atom that contributed a greater understanding to its structure and quantum mechanics. The Bohr model proposed that the electrons present in atoms revolve around the nucleus in a fixed path termed as bohr orbits or energy shells.This is the same assumption as in Rutherford’s model and the centripetal force necessary for the circular motion is provided by the electrostatic force of attraction between the electron and the nucleus.
