Details : OS : Ubuntu 14.04.2 LTS Firefox 38.0 uBlock Origin. More specifically when displaying a webpage that contain a YouTube video. It mostly happen when looking at a YouTube video. I'm not sure if it was just enough time passed or the actual restart itself, since my other computer had been restarted many times without solving it until yesterday. Hi, Since I installed uBlockOrigin, my flashplugin is often crashing resulting in Firefox freezing for a minute. I'll restart Firefox on my other system later today and see what happens.Įdit 2 : Finally had an opportunity to restart my long-running browser (which also let Firefox update itself) and that seems to have solved the uBlock update error. so I'm not sure how to get a more informative error out of Firefox.Įdit: I've just tested the other machine which had daily restarts but still had problems over the past few days and it appears to be working fine today so I imagine at some point the daily restarts of firefox "unstuck" whatever was busted. Assuming youre using the new Chromium Edge, Edge has its own built in ad blocker (Settings -> Site permissions -> Ads) so it could be conflicting with that. I googled some instructions for getting logging output out of extensions but it seems all to be too old information, since the error console it all went to no longer exists. I'm not sure how we go about trying to clear whatever cache is causing the issue, if it is indeed a cached badness problem. I tried clearing the normal browser cache but that did nothing to resolve the problem. Ill bite the bullet and deal with the poor performance once uBlock stops working with Chrome but until then there isnt much reason for me to swap. Chrome on the other hand has worked flawlessly with those sites. Chrome hangs when uBlock Origin is enabled. I've had the same problem on an up-to-date Firefox on another machine, which gets restarted daily, but didn't verify the same check for updates failure behavior on it yet as I only just found out about that, and it's at another location. Im still using Chrome because for some reason Firefox has terrible performance when trying to watch Twitch, YouTube, etc. uBlock Origin is the only extension uBlock Origin with default lists/settings using a new, unmodified browser profile I am running the latest version of uBlock Origin I checked the documentation to understand that the issue I report is not a normal behavior Description. If it is the one then you could link the page it sends you to if you want. If you click the top one it should submit it to mozilla, there you can check the timestamp and see if it was the one you mentioned. Trying to check for updates in Addons causes it to fail to update uBO : Checking into one it looks like its an address read violation, whatever that means. I can also reproduce this behavior in Firefox 64.0.2 (due to not having restarted Firefox in a while so it hasn't updated itself yet) and uBO 1.18.0
